Fight Club
Posted by Time2Die@ 10:54 PM EDT

If you haven't seen this film yet GO GET IT! It's only in VHS format but will be out June 6th in DVD format (the Monday after noogs LAN). Might try and get it pre-ordered and shipped to Noog's house as sometimes they'll ship it before the official release date and we can watch it Saturday night. This is definitely on the list of "Top-10 films to watch if you play Quake" with the likes of Army of Darkness and Aliens. Short...controlled bursts. Stay Frosty.

More down time...
Posted by Time2Die@ 10:50 PM EDT

This time it was a power failure at the site doing primary DNS as I haven't had time to change the DNS info from moving the box from one network to another (aka the old site is still listed as one of the DNS servers). *SIGH* Went down between 10pm last night till about 10pm tonight.

Down Time.
Posted by Time2Die@ 10:31 PM EDT

The server this page resides on was moved this morning and never came back. Victim of a bad power supply. It was also to be completely moved to another ip/network at the end of this month but because of the bad power supply I took the opportunity to go ahead and make the move. Any feed back is always welcome...

Sucks to be 3dfx.

3dchipset has links to 6 GeForce2 reviews. I read the SharkiesExtreme review and benchmarks. The compare the GeForce2 against a Geforce on both 5.16 and 3.84 drivers as well as a Voodoo 5500 for good measure (which gets the tar beat outta it in most resolutions a normal user would use).

Little smurfs on ETG
Posted by Time2Die@ 3:34 PM EDT

Found this link interesting. I have been increasingly getting "possible smurf attack initiated" from BlackICE over the last couple of days. About 4-6 lately. I know that the ETG IRC Network has been under fire lately and wonder if this is related.

Tough week for the CTF Team
Posted by Time2Die@ 10:10 AM EDT

Played and lost to "Wicked Mojo" Sunday in 3 very close games. It was probably bad judgement for us to play the first two games on the server that we did, but that's old news now as the damage was done. GG's to Wicked Mojo. Also played and lost to VIrus23 last night in 2 games that weren't close. These guys had their shit together and it showed. Great control of the powerups and good team working with the flag runner. That's not to say we let them run over us...KI played a strong game and made some good plays but in the end it wasn't enough. Great games and thanks to all that played and supported us. I will have some demo's and SS's of both games up later...

Plextor 12X CDR (aka Woah!)
Posted by Time2Die@ 9:12 AM EDT

Usually don't post stuff like this on the KI page...but I know more than a few of the KI dudes have burners (say like all of them except me!). Plextor has a 12/4/32 CDR out. Here's a review that talks about some of the features and spec's. My favorite quote referring to buffer overruns "coaster-production software syndrome". O well...guess I'll have to save up my milk money to get one of these bad mama's.

Q3 Mods and Add-ons
Posted by Time2Die@ 9:04 AM EDT

One thing that annoys me is when browsing a add-on or mod site not being able to find screenshots of the project on the page. I surfed 3 pages alone today and all the site had was some news and the download links. I'm at work, I can't just fire up Q3 and take a quick peek. *sigh* Ok, I feel better now ;>

Cool Screenshots
Posted by Time2Die@ 2:12 PM EDT

People always ask where I get my Screen Shots. Truth is I don't sit in Quake3 trying to figure out cool shots that might become something more after a little PhotoShop treatment. I leech them from the net (thank you, please drive around). GameArt rules but I've actually never used anything from there. Quake3World's Q3 Shots are pretty good and probably would serve as a good spot to start from. Some are ready for wallpaper and some are just cool to look at. This is my current wallpaper on my personal machine. Pretty cool.

Misc Debris
Posted by Time2Die@ 12:02 PM EDT

Broke and Fixed the page. Small problem that most probably didn't find. Still adding some cool quick site links to the right. Added GameArt under the "Misc Cool Stuff" spot. Check this one out. Also fixed a problem with the forums. That being where you click on the forums link and it doing nothing but saying host contacted ;>

Gamespy 2.20 is OUT!
Posted by Time2Die@ 3:09 PM EDT

Why would anyone care about a small minor release of GameSpy? Well...in this release they have finally granted everyone using Windows2000 a bit of sanity by fixing the infamous "freeze" bug that occurs when trying to refresh servers. So very annoying...They also added the feature of auto-adding servers to your favorites that you've played 5 or more times. Pretty Cool so far. Really nice being able to refresh servers without fear of the gamespy browser hanging on the refresh. Here's the link to the FilePlanet mirror.

Knightmare Game
Posted by Time2Die@ 7:59 AM EDT

Played and lost our OGL match Monday against Knightmare. Dm6 was a close one. At one point Knightmare was only up by 2 frags but the early Quad runs by KM were too much to make up and we ended up losing by 14 in a game that didn't see a lead of more than 8-10 till the final minutes. Dm7 was a different story. Excellent level handling by KM as they shut us down and ran well as a team. We had some hardware problems on our side that left one of our guys on a system that he wasn't used to playing on and the DSL N8 and I were on went down once during the first game at about the 2 minute mark where we both were up on health and weapons with only 6 frags to make up...that sucked. Probably cost us any hope of winning the first game. I'll have the SS's up on the Matches page later tonight.

Speaking of LAN's
Posted by Time2Die@ 7:46 AM EDT

QuakeCon2000 has the capacity of 2900 people and has planned a 512 person Quake3 Tourney. Don't know if the annual Mathis Invitational in June will reach that player count...but if it's like last year, you won't care ;>

lan party
Posted by 2Wild4U@ 9:37 PM EDT

Just wanted to get the information out to everyone, so everyone can make plans. The lan party @ our house will be held June 1st through the 4th. Looks like we are going to have a great showing...including some new faces which is always good. =) More details later. Thx

F.R.A.G. (Part 2)
Posted by Time2Die@ 8:54 AM EDT

Back from the carnage. Had a ton of fun playing in the land that knows no lag (a lan). Had a wide range of different games being played. Q3, UT, and Counter Strike were the order of the day with tourneys setup for each. Ran out of time on the tourneys but it was still a lot of fun. Ended up getting hardly any sleep Saturday night in which we ended up sleeping in most of the day Sunday till about 4:30. The accommodations (aka the hotel) were very nice and we didn't have a power problem except one that affect the entire hotel. The network setup was good with nary a complaint to be heard (at least from where I was sitting). Not many demo's this time...but should have some pic's by next weekend up.

Tourney's of note:

Q31v1. Pro took first, N8_Dawg took second, and Time2Die took third. The Q3ctf tourney didn't happen.

UT1v1. Pro took first and Time2Die took second. UT is a pretty fun game. It's done in the spirt of Quake but the physic's are a little strange. Head shots rule...

All in all had a great time...even if I didn't win the Everglide mouse pad :>
