Communism.
Posted by Time2Die@ 12:04 AM EST

I posted a link a few days ago to a bill that was a bit on the wierd side...well it has entered congress in hopes becoming a law and if passed and signed by the president would basically strip you of all of your computing freedoms and force you to buy every piece of hardware and software... as in no more home built PC's and freeware, those would be outlawed. Corporate america would in affect have a monopoly due to lack of non-commercial choices that the consumer would have.

GET MAD!
Posted by Time2Die@ 4:50 PM EST

A strange bill I've never heard of. I would suggest reading the bill and links before forming an opinion. There is of course only one opinion you could form but I thought I'd stick that in there anyway. I will not live a regulated life...

Best tagline:

Opps...I did it again.

Saw this on HardOCP: The Fighting Whities

If you didn't know...RtCW has been patched to 1.3. Rhea has said that after this patch he's going to work on an OSP version for competition. Shouldn't be too much of a stretch since RtCW is a Q3engine game. Wolf_Update_1_3.exe via Cached.net

And there are some new Official Nvidia drivers out.

And for all you VIA people, NEW 4in1 drivers!

There! That should be enough updates to insure that your system stays:
a) Rock Solid man! NEVER CRASHES!
or
b) Flakey as an AMD with a retail heatsink and chip fan!

Md update: better late than never
Posted by Time2Die@ 1:40 PM EST

Had our Md matches last week...2 of them actually. First was our OGL match. We took the first game on W3 even after they illegally substituted a player to help salvage what at the time was a 2-0 KI lead with 10 minutes to go. Ended the match 3-2 in a last minute cap by BTF. The second game was on q3wcp7 and was 0-0 till about the 8 minute mark when Md capped twice after breaking through our D and O. The score on that game was 2-0 Md. The second game was on wnoise...a map that RM made famous by constantly making other clans play it knowing no one played or liked it. We lost the match 1-2. Here are the screenshots: Game1 - Game2 - Game3

The next match was for CAL3. Same maps, different night. Md showed up late again, didn't know any of the CAL3 rules, and mickey was trashing talking like a newb. First 2 games were single cap games. Again losing by a small margin... Game1 - Game2 - Game3

Things learned from Md: It's ok to be late, not know the rules even though you took part in the first 2 CAL tourneys, illegally drop players from matches when losing so you can sub a player, try to sub a player that was late getting in after the match has already started, trash talk because "you're losing" and "just going to lose anyway", and that it's ok to accuse the other team of taking the match too serious or not being more flexible when we don't agree to every request. These are all things that happened during our match with Md. Massive Destruction would be a good adjective in describing what this clan is doing to the CTF community. We're small and we need all the encouragement we can get to grow the community. It is very discouraging trying to play a clan that is both disorganized and then disrespective to you when trying to interact with them. KI doesn't scrim Md and clans like them not because of the fear of losing, but because we play to have fun and Md does everything in their power to be as difficult to get along with as possible. I'd rather be playing Scrabble!

Firewall Tip.
Posted by Time2Die@ 3:03 PM EST

I sometimes hear people asking why they can't get 2 people on the same quake3 server but can play on different servers fine. I might have found a fix for those situations:

--SNIP--
Each computer playing QuakeIII must use a different port number, starting at 27660 and incrementing by 1. You'll also need to do the following:

1. Right click on the QIII icon
2. Choose "Properties"
3. In the Target field you'll see a line like "C:\Program Files\Quake III Arena\quake3.exe"
4. Add the Quake III net_port command to specify a unique communication port for each system. The complete field should look like this: "C:\Program Files\Quake III Arena\quake3.exe" +set net_port 27660
5. Click OK.
6. Repeat for each system behind the NAT, adding one to the net_port selected (27660,27661,27662)

IN UDP 27660 (for first player)
--SNIP--

So there you go...next time you hear someone with said problem this might help.

Good and the Bad.
Posted by Time2Die@ 6:48 PM EST

Wednesday we played and won the #1 spot on the OGL ladder against Eradicate. After about an hour delay with e! trying to get a 4th we finally played only to have them ask for split servers on the match. Mainly due to one of their dudes having an 80 ping on the server we had agreed on in IRC. We beat them on their map on our server 1-0 with the last 5 minutes being a flag standoff. Switching servers helped their ping but not the final result of the match with KI winning w3 on e!'s server choice. Game1 - Game2

Now the bad...we played Md for Winterhaste and lost 0-2. The first game was played on q3wcp15...a map we'll be practicing more for sure :>. Game2 was on our recent favorite w3 in which for about the first 8 minutes it looked as though it was anyones game. After a couple of good runs by Md and our inablity to reset our O and D we ended up losing the game and the match. We now face Md for the #1 spot on OGL. Hopefully we'll have a full bench this time as we were missing 4 of our regulars. Game1 - Game2

44 for CAL3.
Posted by Time2Die@ 11:53 PM EST

Played TrueForce (44) for CAl3 tonight. 44 picked CP5 and after a few early problems with pings/drops 44 ended up taking the match 2-1. CP1 was our pick and we almost paid for it being down 0-1 @ the 18min mark when we decided to go 3 O to try and salvage the win. TEN made the tie cap @ the 19:54 mark to go into overtime. After a short OT we took the map with a 2-1 win. The third map was the KI favorite of w3. 44 after being a 0-1 game most of the game pulled ahead to 0-3 after KI unsuccessfully tried to tie the game. GG GUYS! Game1 - Game2 - Game3

Killer PC Case.
Posted by Time2Die@ 9:57 AM EST

Here's a link to the case a lot of people I know are getting lately...it's heavier than shit but it has 2 rear case fans, a spot in front of the drive cage for a fan, and side panel that pop's off via a cool handle (READ: no screws!), and some other cool features. This is a link actually to a "clone" of the one everyone's getting...but at about 30$ less. Read the review. NewEGG case with a 420 PS

Probably going to pick one of these up myself...

Friday Stuff.
Posted by Time2Die@ 10:55 AM EST

What a crazy week for web updates. First we're reported to have beaten Ni for WinterHaste (WH) and then on another site we're were referred to as "Killer Inc". Can't get NO respect! :>

If you haven't already seen it...you should take a look at lukin's CTF video. It's fun, entertaining, and yet stays crunchy in milk.

Here's a beginner nVidia tweaking page: http://www.3dspotlight.com/tweaks/geforce/index.shtml

At some point this weekend I think I'll do my quarterly "Matches page" update. If you want to browse the matches, you can do so from this link: http://www.killersinc.com/matches/
