Would like to welcome Hydro-Ax back from the fray after a "quake sabbatical". Now if we can just get Hydro and lb hooked up with some "wireless" pinging p1mpage we'll be set!

Weekly Memory Prices.
Posted by Time2Die@ 8:51 AM EST

With memory prices dropping, it's good to get an idea for what to shop for and where to get it got the lowest price. Sharky's has a couple of memory guides for different configs (business/gaming) and a pricing matrix for the various types here:

And it's updated weekly!

Top 10 games you WON'T see this xmas.
Posted by Time2Die@ 7:55 PM EST

Cool little article from the Stomped.com guys listing the games that are popular "just around the corner" games that people are waiting to come out.

http://www.stomped.com/published/jcal975338534_1_1.html

Also an interview of cK-Lunch that's interesting. My favorite quote:

>Sling Blade: What are your thoughts on Team Arena? Will Clan Kapitol adopt this game for team play? Do you think The CPL will?

>Lunch: Clan Kapitol wont be using Team Arena in the future, and we don’t think CPL will either.

F.R.A.G. 7 mini-wrapup
Posted by Time2Die@ 9:14 AM EST

Going to write-up a more detailed version for the F.R.A.G. 7 page so look out for that one. Had a great time this weekend and from the feed back I'm getting so did a lot of people. Had very little problems in the way of network, power, and servers. Organization was what kept our heads above water with the entire staff providing the power to push the party to a new level of success. What problems we did have were quickly worked on and fixed. Lots of ideas on how make the next one more efficient and some great ideas for improving the party. The entire KI team was there and had great success in the tourneys. Should have pics, ss's, demo's, and more war stories up today or tomorrow. So STOKED that so many people were taking pictures and ALL of the match servers were doing auto-demoing and ss's. Already have like 150+ megs of demo's that players uploaded...just going to take time to sort and organize all the while catching up on things in "real-life".

LAG? on my server?
Posted by Time2Die@ 10:53 AM EST

Been researching (yes I do take these things serious) some complaints about excessive lag on the server and I think it's been pin pointed back to the OSP mod. Seems that there was some beta code put in J and L that cause a little excessive client lag and that produced some server PL. I read that it has been taken care of in .99M, which is on the server now. BTW...on a lan, these issues don't exists because of the lack of latency (for the most part). So those coming to F.R.A.G. 7 will have no worries.

RM Match.
Posted by Time2Die@ 9:59 AM EST

Played and beat Recreational Malice for XTGL and OGL last night. Strange playing a clan 2 matches in a row on the same night but they challenged so what's a clan to do? Server shopping went "OK" as they were an east coast clan and we didn't have too hard of a time finding a server that worked for everyone. I got confused as to which match we were playing first and we ended up playing a 30min XTGL round...thanks for asking why I changed the Timelimit to 30! :> So q3wctf2 was our round one map pick. It was a tight game for most of the match with some good team work paying off to win. Good teamwork and cordination on both sides. They had a player disconnect with 2 minutes left...RM said to just play out the match without him so we did but no caps occured while they were short a player. We won 6-2. Round 2 they picked "Dueling Keeps" (q3ctf1). This is a popular map for DM'ers playing CTF...and was basically a FFA. Maybe we should have played game2 as a DM game...we won 1-0. The OGL map they picked of the three we offered when we accepted the challenge was q3ctf3. This was another tight game. In the end we brought home the bacon and won 3-1 sweeping the nights matches. << Game1 >> << Game2 >> << Game3 >>

IRC and OPS.
Posted by Time2Die@ 2:01 PM EST

We have tentively created the following policy to only OP clan members in #killco and friends of the clan will get +v. This isn't a final decision as we haven't heard feedback from everyone in the clan...but it does solve a little "mini-crisis" over who should get ops and who shouldn’t. Plus everyone always says having OPS doesn't matter...so we shall see :>

Quake News Pages.
Posted by Time2Die@ 9:01 AM EST

I think they've lost their hardcore audience in their drive to make money. They've traded in tasty and exciting news for bulk content about games we'll never play and 1000 reviews of the same piece of hardware. They also lack original content that would benefit the visitor, instead leaving that task up to the hobbists and part time webmasters to fill in the gaps. An example site of some hardworking mofo's is http://www.ars-technica.com/ isn't exactly game related. http://www.q3ctf.org is a step in the right direction but is mostly a community run page with articles from players...but it's that original content that is so valuable in the form of articles that gives everyone insight into what other people are doing and thinking in terms of Q3CTF. In my opinion, Quake News Pages are just organized and moderated "Want ads" that companies and indiviuals use to advertise whatever they can convince the webmasters to post.

XTGL Match.
Posted by Time2Die@ 4:25 PM EST

Our first. After confusion and some connection problems (and about 90 minutes of waiting) we finally played. We won both games. << Game1 >> << Game2 >> As you would expect with such a long wait tempers were short towards the end but after the match started everyone was leveled headed and showed very sportsman conduct. GGS all around...

Crappy computer pic of the day.

GD! Is that a freakn packard bell case? Notice that the keyboard is actually suspending in air via a keyboard arm dealie. You can see it bolted to the desk...

Daily tip (part 3).
Posted by Time2Die@ 11:42 AM EST

Ok. Don't use that USB tip from the other day. Even tho it feels smoother, it lacks consistencey that completely throws your aim off. On a different note, try using r_displayrefresh at like 120 or to whatever your com_maxfps is set to if it's less than 120. You need to make sure that your monitor will do 120 refresh before trying this...if you blow your monitor up, it's not my fault! :> It will make the screen a lot smoother for easier tracking.
